Subhashini Goda

Subhashini Goda is a multidisciplinary artist and an academic specialising in the Indian Classical dance form, bharatanatyam and is the recipient of the Emma O'Kane Bursary Award 2024. With a Masters in English literature and a Choreomundus Masters (EMJMD) in Dance Knowledge, Practice and Heritage, her works are informed by her tryst with literature and Indian dance theatre traditions, and her collaborative bearings are a series of experiments grounded in reconsidering how bharatanatyam is perceived, practised, and performed in varied translocal contexts. She has taught and performed her dance form in different capacities in India, Hungary, France, Trinidad, Malaysia, and now in Ireland. Currently pursuing a PhD in Dance Studies / Cultural Anthropology, her research interests centre on migration, place-making, and the politics of identity, and these interplay in her creative work as well. Since moving to Ireland in 2021, she has showcased her artistic work at the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival 2022/2023, Dublin Fringe Festival the Imagine Arts Festival (Waterford) 2023. She has also performed at the 2023 Festival of Irish Choreography, mentored by Susan Sentler and Rajinder Singh.
